OIC Slams Israeli llegal 1,100 Settlement Expansion

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen,

Jeddah, MINA – The Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday fiercely condemned Israel’s approval of plans to build a further 1,100 settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

The move was a “flagrant attack on the rights of the Palestinian people” aimed at preventing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, KUNA reported, citing OIC Secretary General Youssef Al-Othaimeen in a statement.

The continued expansion of settlements also represents a clear breach of international law, the Jeddah-based organisation’s chief underlined.

He urged the UN Security Council to bear its responsibilities in putting an end to Isr el’s illegal settlement policies on all occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem

The plans, approved four days ago, will witness the illegal construction of homes for Israeli settlers in the West Bank. (T/RS5/RS1)
