No Indonesian Victims Reported in London Bridge Attack : Govt

Jakarta, 10 Ramadan 1438/5 June 2017 (MINA) – The Foreign Affairs Ministry has confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were among the victims of an attack on the London Bridge, London, United Kingdom.

Although there have been no Indonesian citizens becoming victims, the Indonesian Embassy in London continued monitoring the recent development and communicating with local authority of London, Antara News reported, citing a statetemnt of the Foreign Affairs Ministry released here on Sunday.

The Government of Indonesia condemns the attack killing six and injuring dozens, the ministry stated.

“The Government of Indonesia expressed condolences and its deepest sympathy to all victims and families and pray for their recovery,” the statement said.

Indonesia also reemphasized its support to the Government of UK in fighting and countering terrorism.

Six people have died in addition to the three attackers shot dead by police in the London Bridge and Borough Market attack Saturday night.

Attackers drove a van at high speed into pedestrians on London Bridge just after 10 p.m. on Saturday before continuing to drive from the bridge to Borough Market.

There, they jumped out of the van and stabbed people, including a British Transport Police officer who has serious but not life-threatening injuries to his face, head and leg, Sky news reported.
