PM Najib prays after reciting Surah Yasin

Putra Jaya, 26 Sya’ban 1437/03 May 22016 (MINA) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Thursday night attended ‘Yasin’ recitation and prayers to mark the official birthday anniversary of Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at Masjid Putra, here.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, Palestine Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Dr Anwar Al Agha and Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha.

The ‘Yasin’ recitation and prayers were led by Masjid Negara Imam Besar, Tan Sri Shaikh Ismail Muhammad soon after ‘Maghrib’ prayers.

Shaikh Ismail also recited verses from the holy Quran before performing ‘Isyak’ prayers with some 1,000 Muslims.

Tuanku Abdul Halim,89, is the first ruler to become Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a second time and was officially proclaimed on April 11, 2012.

He first became Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1971 when only 44 years-old. (T/R07/R01)
