MYANMAR GOVERNMENT HIGHLY WELCOMES INDONESIA’S MER-C HUMANITARIAN AID
Sitwee, Myanmar, 13 August 2015 Dzulqa’dah 1436/27 (MINA) – The Myanmar government highly appreciated the humanitarian assistance delivered by the Medical Emergency Rescue-Committee (MER-C) of Indonesia, saying such aid is given with a sincere heart, without racial and ethnic prejudice.
“If there were humanitarian aid from Indonesia, they would be very welcome, because Indonesia gave it with a sincere heart and there was no political motive behind it. It is highly appreciated by them, “said the Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar Ito Sumardi to Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) through an exclusive interview with Ichsan Thalib of the MER-C’s construction department here Thursday.
According to the Bogor-born Ambassador, the Government of Myanmar highly appreciates Indonesia as the biggest and most populous Muslim country in the world not raise the issue in Rakhine as a religious one.
Furthermore, Ito said, the issue in Myanmar is a matter of ethnicity, so that outside parties should be aware that the Rohingya is not recognized by the Government of Myanmar as its own citizens..
It would be very inconvenient to provide assistance to those who are not Myanmarese people, except for the sake of humanitarian purposes, Ito said.
The local government has been very open and gave the honor to the non-governmental organization to choose the most suitable location for the construction of a health clinic ..
The Government of Myanmar sincerely hope everything is really pure from the humanitarian aspect, and the assistance can be provided to the two local communities, because the hardship is equally befell on the Budhist and Muslim communities, “said the former Head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Indonesian Police Headquarters (Kabareskrim).
