Muslim Awqaf Says Jewish Fanatics’ Incursions into Aqsa Mosque Getting Dangerous

Jerusaalem, MINA – The Muslim Awqaf (endowment) department in Jerusalem warned on Monday that incursions into and provocations by Jewish fanatics against Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, is getting serious and more dangerous and threatening the decades-long status quo at the Mosque.

“The current situation facing Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif has reached a critically dangerous level following rise in incursions by Jewish fanatics of the Mosque to an indescribable level or to compare it to previous serious situations at the Mosque,” WAFA rported, citing the Awqaf in statement.

It urged Muslims around the world to protect the Mosque and to defend it against assaults by Jewish fanatics who seek its destruction and replacement by a Jewish temple.

It accused the Israeli government and police of supporting the fanatics in their provocations.

“We urge our people and institutions to once against to rise and defend Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif at this time because what the Mosque is going through is a prelude to impose new facts,” said the statement.

The Awqaf was referring to the popular uprising against Israeli measures at the Mosque in the summer when police placed metal detectors at the gates leading to the walled Muslim compound forcing police to quickly remove them.

Thousands of Jewish fanatics hold provocative tours of Al-Aqsa Mosque every day under police protection and supervision and their tours intensify during Jewish holidays. Some even hold religious rituals even though rules ban religious rituals in the compound for non-Muslims. (T/RS5/RS1)
