Al-Quds, MINA – The Jordanian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Abdul Nasser Abul Basal, protested the arrest of Chairman of Awqaf Council, Syaikh Abdul Azim Salhab, who was also the Head of the Supervisory Authority of the Sacred Muslim Sites in Yerusalaem.

He said Israel’s actions were dangerous and unacceptable escalation which did not respect Amman’s role as guardian of holy sites in Jerusalem, Petra News Agency said on Sunday.

Israeli police briefly detained the head of the Islamic authority who supervised the Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem on Sunday morning after a recent protest there.

Israeli police confirmed that Syaikh Salhab had been released, but he was prevented him from entering the site for a week.
