Jakarta Hosts Religious Scholars’ Trilateral Meeting
Jakarta, MINA — Religious scholars from Afghanistan, Indonesia and Pakistan have attended a joint meeting to discuss the Afghan war and the peace process., Tolo News reported.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said at the meeting that religious scholars can play a crucial role in peace.
He called on participants of the meeting to pay sincere efforts for peace in Afghanistan.
The meeting will be held behind closed doors for some hours and at the end, religious scholars of the three countries will issue a joint declaration about war and peace in Afghanistan.
High Peace Council spokesman Ehsanullah Taheri said 20 religious scholars from Afghanistan have attended the meeting.
Taheri said Jakarta meeting is crucial for finding a solution to the current war and violence in the country. (T/RS5/RS1)
