Jakarta Governor Holds Diplomatic Corps Gathering

Jakarta, MINA – The Jakarta Provincial Government again held 2019 Diplomatic Corps Gathering in Sunda Kelapa Room, City Hall Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday.

In this event, Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan welcomed dozens of ambassadors from Asia Pacific region. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia, A.M. Fachir was also present at the event.

Governor hoped that DKI Jakarta Provincial Government could facilitate diplomatic relationship with various countries that place their representatives through Embassy offices in capital city.

“DKI Jakarta is capital city, hosting 162 embassies in Jakarta. Now, not only facilitate the region, but it also facilitates diplomatic corps. Therefore, starting from last year, I invited ambassadors to meet once a year at this City Hall, where we can chat each other, “Governor Anies said after the meeting.

Governor Anies said that the meeting with Ambassadors could potentially build cooperation with Jakarta Provincial Government. DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to send its best human resources to learn about the best experiences from other countries regarding various policies to public.

Anies gave an example of cooperation to study policies in Singapore and Hong Kong. He also said that Singapore would work with DKI Jakarta Provincial Government regarding fire fighting training.

“We get feedback, because our function is serving (embassies in Jakarta). One component that we serve (as DKI Jakarta Provincial Government) is diplomatic corps. So, we have to make sure that as a capital city, all embassies – all diplomats are well served. “Said Governor Anies. (T/Sj/P2)
