Tel Aviv, MINA – Israeli opposition leaders have harshly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, accusing him of offering no concrete solutions to end the Gaza war or secure the release of hostages.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid described the speech as “tired and whining,” filled with “gimmicks,” and lacking substance. Writing on social media platform X, Lapid said, “The world today saw a tired and whining Israeli Prime Minister, in a speech overly laden with tired gimmicks.”

Lapid also criticized Netanyahu for failing to present a strategy to defeat Hamas or end the war, which has now continued for nearly two years. “Instead of halting the diplomatic tsunami, Netanyahu today worsened the situation of the State of Israel,” he added.

Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, echoed Lapid’s criticism. In a separate post on X, Lieberman said the speech sounded like “a party leader’s address, not the speech of a prime minister for all.” He further noted that Netanyahu “ignored the most important sentence — ending the war in exchange for the release of all hostages.”
