ISRAELI DRONES FLY OVER GAZA SKY DESPITE CEASEFIRE
Gaza, 23 Shawal 1435/19 August 2014 (MINA) – Israeli occupation regime unmanned aircrafts (drones) have been flying over Gaza skies since the beginning of the ceasefire agreed between the Palestine and Israel five days ago.
The drone flew over the Gaza sky with a noise like an electric generator and very disturbing noise for 24 hours non-stop, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza reported.
Gazans deeply disturbed, especially at night when residents are resting during the latest war. However, some of them started to be used to its noisy situation.
The spy plane was equipped with surveillance cameras. It records every movement of Gazans. More than that, the aircraft could launch missiles.
Gazan fighters are trying hard to dispel the plane, even they have managed to shoot down a few aircrafts with “Ardh Jau” rockets. The resistance could shot down several drones before.
The success of the Palestinians shooting down the drones breaks the myth that Israel’s Iron Dome rockets are always able to block the fighters rockets, even the majority of newly developed Gazan rockets could enter the occupied territories lately.
Drones are the public face of counter-insurgency. Mechanical, unmanned, distant, they fly above battlefields from Pakistan to Yemen, their unblinking electronic eyes streaming video back to uniformed pilots secure on military bases elsewhere.
The United States is the best-known drone operator in the world, but it’s hardly the only country that uses them. The Israel Occupation Forces are using drones over Gaza as part of their latest aggression called “Protective Edge.”
The Aviationist reports that, for the first time, Israel is deploying a modified Elbit Systems Hermes 450, with a new antenna on top and carrying under wing pods, over Gaza. The under wing pods could be fuel tanks for longer flights, though some facts showed that they instead contain either light missiles or guns.
It wouldn’t be the first time Israel used an armed drone. During the 2006 Lebanon War, Israeli drone footage showed Hellfire missiles, like those used by American drones.(L/K01/P03/E01)
