ISRAEL VIOLATES CEASEFIRE AGAIN BY FIRING GAZA FISHERMEN
Gaza, 12 Dzulqa’dah 1435/8 September 2014 (MINA) – Israeli occupation regime warships fired on Palestinian fishermen who were fishing in the sea of Gaza on Monday morning (8 September 2014). They added to the list of Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreed some time ago.
A fisherman, Nizar Ayyash said that Israeli warships fired on the Palestinian fishermen starting their fishing activities this morning.
There was no casualties in the incident, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported.
Israel also fired on fishing boats in the sea of Rafah south of Gaza Strip on Tuesday (2 September 2014). They arrested two fishermen on the sea shore of Bayt Lahiya, north of Gaza.
Several fishermen said that Israeli warships fired them using machine guns when they were fishing in distance of six kilometers from its coast.
Ayyash called human rights organization to ask Israelis for responsibility of their action. He also asked the organization to protect fishermen and Palestinians from Israeli attacks which threatened their lives and livelihoods.
Previously, Palestinians and Israel have agreed to increase the area for fishing for Palestinian fishermen as far as 6 miles from the coast. It occurred in the agreement at indirect talk in Cairo some time ago. It will be expanded as far as 12 miles until the end of this year.
Other agreements were the construction of ports, construction of international airport in Gaza and permanent opening of Rafah border crossing. When Mirajnews.com contacted head of Rafah border, he said that rule in the border has not changed yet.
Palestine and Israel planned to continue their indirect talk mediated by Egypt one month after the ceasefire agreement. There is no certain information when the negotiations will be held.
Israeli television, Chanel 10, reported on Monday (1 September 2014) night Gaza time that Netanyahu would not send delegation to Cairo to resume the negotiation. It was punishment for Hamas group in order that they did not get anything in the 51 days war. (L/K01/P009/P3)
