Israel not Respect UN Resolutions: Indonesian Ulema
Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) said the recent Israeli action did not respect the decisions or resolutions of the United Nations (UN).
MUI considers that what Israel currently doing is a form of violation of all international resolutions and agreements, both agreements agreed at regional and international forums.
“Israel does not respect the resolutions, even challenges the United Nations, as if Israel cannot be punished and cannot be submitted to the International Court of Justice,” MUI Chairman for Foreign Relations, KH Muhyiddin Junaidi said on Jakarta on Thursday.
Muhyiddin said Israel seemed to be immune to various kinds of pressure from the international community.
Israel even claims the right to build housing in the West Bank, Palestine. It is proof that Israel currently no longer respects all agreements signed and approved by the United Nations, especially the UN Security Council resolution.
He asserted in connection with that, it is time for Israel to be brought to the International Court of Justice for its tyranny and inhumanity and its arbitrariness.
Therefore, the international community must support the efforts of the United Nations in order to create peace in the Middle East region.
“We realize that Israel’s actions are so barbaric, the US also always applies double standards in Israeli policy in the Middle East,” he said.
He said that if the US did not support Israel, Lord willing, Israel would not dare. But whatever policy is carried out by Israel is always supported by the US. It is a major problem in the unfinished peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. Because Israel is considered as the golden boy of the US in the region.
Previously, the Indonesian Government strongly opposed the statement of US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who said Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories were not illegal.
It is known, the establishment of illegal settlements is a strategy carried out by Israel to annex Palestinian territories since 1967. Israel continues to oppose international law that prohibits Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. (T/Sj/P2)
