Gaza, 24 Rabiul Awwal 1438/24 December 2016 (MINA) – The Israeli government responded angrily Friday night to the resolution passed by UN Security Council Friday to condemn the settlement expansions on occupied Palestinian territories.

Political sources in Israel blasted the US administration for failure to veto the measure and, instead, abstained, according to Israel Radio.

They accused US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry of connivance with the Palestinian side to pass the anti-Israel resolution, the report said without naming the sources.

The stance of the Obama administration signals that the United States backed away from a longstanding policy supportive of Israel, the sources added.

Earlier today the Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Damon condemned the resolution as “a victory for terror” that “will be added to the long and shameful list of anti-Israel resolutions.” (T/RS05/RS01)
