Islam of France Foundation to be Launched in November – MoI

Paris, 27 Dzulqa’dah 1437/30 August 22016  (MINA) – French Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve said Monday the Islam of France foundation, to be launched in November, is meant to augment the social harmony in the country, KUNA reported.

The foundation which will include representatives of the government and the Islamic institutions is to enhance the integration of the Muslim community with the values of the French Republic, he said following consultations with religious, cultural and public figures.

France is fighting an enemy who attempts to divide and destabilize the country and undermine its national unity, Cazeneuve said, stressing the need of mobilizing all forces against this enemy.

All French officials who attended today’s consultations reaffirmed commitment to the principles and values of the Republic, and renewed their allegiance to France, he said

The minister added that the French Muslims need to play a more active role in the fight against extremism which poses a serious threat to the country.

The country is in need, more than ever, of peaceful relationship with the Muslim community in order to enhance its social peace, he pointed out.

The Islam of France foundation will be tasked with bringing the Muslim community closer to the other segments of the French society, the minister added. (T/R07/R01)
