IOF Razes 168 EU-Funded Homes in Palestine

Al-Quds, 24 Syawwal 1437/29 July 2016  (MINA)  –  Israeli Haaretz newspaper quoted the Director of European Organizations in the European Department of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Avivit Bar-Ilan as said that the EU is seriously considering prosecuting Israel because of its continuous razing of Palestinian homes funded by the EU.

For its part, the Israeli B’Tselem organization for human rights said, in the meeting which was recently convened in the Knesset, that Israel razed over 168 of Palestinians’ homes during the first half of 2016 compared to 125 homes demolished in the whole of 2015, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The Hebrew newspaper reported that the EU ambassador to Israel Lars Faaborg-Andersen strongly slammed the Israeli policy of demolishing Palestinian homes and depriving them of construction permits.

Israel confiscated 70% of Region C areas and approved only 44 out of 2,000 applications for construction permits in the period between 2009 and 2013, he said.(T/P008/R07)
