Indonesian Qori Won 2nd Runner Up in International MTQ at Makkah

Makkah, MINA – Indonesian Quran reciter (Qori), Al Hasan Ahmad, won 2nd runner up in the category of 15 juz in the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) at Makkah 41st year 1441/2019.

The winner was announced at the closing of the MTQ which took place in the courtyard of the Al-Mukarramah Grand Mosque of Makkah on Wednesday.

Al Hasan successfully passing the initial qualifying round and entering the final qualifying round which was attended by 35 participants, according to the Ministry of Religion, quoted by MINA on Friday.

The MTQ was joined by 146 participants from 103 countries.

By accepting this, Al Hasan received a gift from Prince Faishal bin Abdul Aziz for 45,000 riyals equivalent to Rp. 135 million.

“Very happy for this achievement,” said Al Hasan.

While the first winner of the level 15 juz won by Abdus Sayyid Sulaiman Sholeh from Libya and the runner up won by Ahmad Syihabullah from Bangladesh.

Attending at the event, Prince Faishal bin Abdul Aziz Ali Su’ud as Amir Makkah, representatives of friendly countries, and invitees. Also present as the guest of honor was the Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance, Muhammadiyah Amin who was accompanied by the Indonesian Consul General in Jeddah, Mohamad Hery Saripudin.
