Indonesian Athletes Adds Three Bronze Medals in Asian Beach Games

Jakarta, 01 October 2016/29 Dzulhijjah 1437 (MINA) – The Indonesian contingent won three more bronze medals in the 5th Asian Beach Games championship in Da Nang, Vietnam, on Friday.

According to Antara, Indonesia now has bagged one gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

Yayah Rokayah won the bronze in WC2X beach rowing event, Sylva Risdiana won the bronze in mens sepaktakraw group event and Denny Aprisani won the bronze in the 55 kg category martial art event.

As per details with the ABG Vietnam media team, the Indonesian contingent bagged one gold medal courtesy Chelsea Carputy in the CW1X beach rowing, two silver medals and seven bronze medals.

The director of performance affairs, Hadi Wihardja, said the Indonesian contingent can add to its medal tally as several events were still pending.

“Beach volley ball and four-rowers category in beach rowing are still to see contests. Our hope is that our athletes will be able to win more gold medals. Let us just wait and see,” he stated.

Chef de Mission Indonesia, Hellen Sarlita de Lima, shared his view.

“We still have three days to go and hope our target of winning three gold medals would be achieved. Beach volley ball and beach rowing offer a big opportunity for the team to win gold medals,” she noted.

In the ABG 2016, Indonesia has sent 65 athletes to participate in eight of the 22 events, namely, water polo, beach volley-ball, 3×3 basket-ball, martial art, beach sepaktakraw, vovinam, woodball and beach rowing. (T/R07/R01)
