INDONESIA BANYUWANGI REGENCY HOLDS INTERNATIONAL KITE, WIND SURFING COMPETITION

Banyuwangi, 27 Shawwal 1436/12 August 2015 (MINA) – Indonesia Banyuwangi regency, East Java province is to hold an international kite surfing and windsurfing competition 2015. So, the regent invites foreign tourists to visit his regency.

The Banyuwangi regent Abdullah Azwar Anas, Wednesday, explained that the competition will be held in Tabuhan island which has white sandy beach, not far from the center of Banyuwangi city. Antaranews reported as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

“The event will be held on 22 to August 23, 2015. It is the second time since it was held last year in the same place. Participant would compete for a cash prize of IDR 100 millions,” he said.

He explained, as many as  40 participants from foreign country have registred the competition.  They are from Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Lithuania, UK, Brazil, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

The jury are coming from Australia and Netherlands, with the race director Jeroen Van der Koiij from Netherlands.

Last year, this event was formed in a trial game. As for this year it would formed in a professional competition that is included in the agenda of Banyuwangi Festival 2015.

Banyuwangi regent Abdullah Azwar Anas said that this activity is a local government initiative in promoting new tourist destinations Tabuhan Island to international tourists.

Tabuhan island located in the northern part of Banyuwangi. The island has beautiful white sand, clear sea water and captivating marine life, so it deserves to be promoted to international community.

The foreign participants to arrive in Banyuwangi on Thursday, August 20th. On Friday, August 21 they will start to have try out the arena.

Besides enjoying Watudodol Beach and Tabuhan Island, tourists also could enjoy various kinds of water games, go snorkelling, and see beautiful scenery. (T/R03/NMT)
