INDONESIA AL-AZHAR UNIVERSITY OPENS AFRICAN STUDY CENTER

Jakarta, 9 Dzulqa’dah 1435/4 September 2014 (MINA) – The Vice Rector for academic, innovation, and collaboration, Al-Azhar University of Indonesia, Ahmad H. Lubis, said that his institution is ready to open African study center.

“We feel very honored if our institution trusted to hold African Study Center,” Lubis said in the discussion themed “Potential and Market Opportunities in Africa” at Al-Azhar University of Indonesia (UAI) in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/9).

The Rector of UAI, Prof. Sardy Sar, in his speech said, the study in the form of trade and economic cooperation, particularly the African opportunity is very helpful for the development of knowledge-based society and its economy.

“We really need thinkers who are able to provide enlightenment through the innovative, creative ideas and studies,” said the rector.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Indonesian Muslim Journalists Brotherhood (PJMI) Mohammad Anthoni said, the cooperation of government, private sector, academia and media is very important in developing export market to Africa.

The discussion recomended, the formation of the African Study Center that will be discussed in a special forum, consisting of the institute of the Study and Development Center, Asia Pacific and Africa Policies(P2K2 Aspasaf) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Research and Development Policy (BPPK) Ministry of Foreign Affairs,the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Al-Azhar University of Indonesia, Indonesian Muslim Journalists Brotherhood (PJMI), and Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)  (L/P009/P4/R03).
