HKSCAN LAUNCHES HALAL CHICKEN PRODUCTS IN UK

London, 16 Rajab 1436/5 May 2015 (MINA) – Nordic meat producer HKScan has introduced a range of halal chicken products in the UK market.

Sainsbury’s will be the first supermarket to list the Aafiyah brand of products. The range includes BBQ drumsticks, hot wings, thighs and Drumsticks. The products come re-prepared in foil trays they can be cooked in, Halal Focus by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“Halal chicken itself has been available in the UK for some time, but consumers have had to check packaging carefully to make sure that meat and meat products are certified halal,” said HKScan UK sales manager David Belton.

“Aafiyah is a totally halal brand, so consumers can be 100% confident that they are buying halal meat when they choose this brand, and this is extremely important.”

HKScan said the UK total halal market is worth over GBP3bn (US$4.6bn).

Belton added: “To date, there has been a limited choice of high quality halal convenience foods available in the UK, so we are confident that the Aafiyah range do well, and will appeal particularly to younger Muslims, as all the products are convenient to cook, without compromising on taste.” (T/P010/R03)
