HANIYEH: PALESTINIAN UNITY THE GREATEST GIFT OF 66TH NAKBA COMMEMORATION

Gaza, 15 Rajab 1435/14 May 2014 (MINA) –  Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh  considered Palestinian unity government is the greatest gift  for the latest commemoration of the Nakba (the day of catastrophe) which was held every May 15.

“The success of Palestinian national reconciliation is the greatest gift to the people of Palestine in commemoration of the 66th Nakba,” said Haniyeh in his speech of Nakba commemoration day in front of the Palestinian parliament in Gaza City, Wednesday (14/5).

Haniyeh also said Hamas is  meeting reconciliation files, and seek the unity  with a strong intention,   pointed out that his party never  subjected to various extortion that comes from outside, because Hamas decided to stick to the decision of the Palestinian internal Shura Council.

“Our task together is how to accomplish this reconciliation process, it is more important than how we do not re-split,” he said in front of the board members, including Ahmad Bahar, chairman of the Palestinian parliament.

The latest final reconciliation on 23 April between the two factions in Gaza and the West Bank  strengthened by the Arab facilitators as they fully support the process. “Despite pressure from foreign parties, but it does not mean much,” he added.

Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank are simultaneously commemorating the expulsion of about 750 thousand Palestinians on May 15, 1948 by Israel, the date when this Zionist state declared its own independence.

The commemoration is held every year in the spotlight of the world, as well as internal and international organizations calling for the right of return of Palestinians to their homeland. Palestinians  became refugees in Arab countries such as Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and others.

“Nakba commemoration has successfully activate the souls of generations of Palestinians in fostering  their love and spirit of struggle,” Haniyeh stressed out.(L/K1/K2/K3/P03/E01)
