HAMAS URGES BACKING FOR PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE
Tehran, 26 Ramadan 1435/24 July 2014 (MINA) – The representative of Hamas in Iran has called on Muslim states to support the Palestinian resistance forces.
“Our only and single demand from the Islamic countries is to adopt supportive stances with regards to [anti-Israeli] resistance forces,” Khalid al-Qoddumi said on Wednesday.
The International Quds Day, to be marked on Friday, comes amid the aggression of the Zionist regime of Israel against the oppressed and innocent people of the Gaza Strip, Qoddumi added, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting Thursday.
The Hamas official also noted that this year’s Quds Day should convey a serious message that the Islamic Ummah is united and integrated and supports the Palestinian people.
Back in 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, and called on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.
Pointing to the expressions of sympathy with the Gazans, Qoddumi further underlined the need for a “practical plan” in support of the Palestinian nation rather than sufficing to voicing solidarity with the people.
Moreover, the Hamas representative said the Zionist regime is doomed and the freedom of Quds (Jerusalem) is imminent.
Israeli warplanes have been hitting numerous sites in the besieged Gaza Strip, demolishing homes and burying families under the rubble over the past 16 days. Israeli tanks also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.
Latest reports say Israeli raids have killed 655 Palestinians, including women and children, and injured more than 4,200 others so far.
Palestinian resistance fighters have also retaliated against the Tel Aviv regime’s deadly attacks by firing a barrage of rockets deep into the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. (T/E01/IR)
