Ramallah, 7 Jumadal Awwal 1436/27 March 2015 (MINA) – The cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh have seen on Thursday morning (26/3) a general strike in tribute to 20-year-old Ali Safi, who died of a bullet injury he sustained during clashes a week ago in Ramallah.

Several commercial stores and businesses responded to popular calls for the strike and closed their doors at 11 o’clock in the morning as a gesture of tribute to the funeral and soul of the slain young man, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

A joint statement released by grassroots groups stated that the Palestinian people would not be dissuaded by Israel’s persistent killing of its young men from continuing their struggle until the attainment of their national rights.

The statement called on the international community to intervene to stop Israel’s systematic killing of the Palestinians in cold blood.

Ali Safi was proclaimed dead on Thursday afternoon after he succumbed to a serious bullet injury in the chest he sustained during confrontations between young men and Israeli soldiers one week ago in Jalazone refugee camp. (T/P006/P3)
