Gaza, 25 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/16 January 2015 (MINA)- The union of Palestinian clerics in Gaza on Thursday criticized cartoons published by the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Representatives of the union told reporters in Gaza City that “all those who denounced and were enraged by the killing of victims in France and organized a rally of rage should have raged more about the harassment against holy places and religions.”, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The West should bring an end to “harassment against Islam and Islamic places and principles,” the clerics added, calling on France to solve the problem from the roots and stop those who have the “audacity to mock the prophet.”

Undermining Muslims and their holy places will create “more confrontations and conflicts between religions,” they added. (T/P010/R03)
