Sirnak, Turkey, 6 Jumadal Awwal 1437 /February 14, 2016 (MINA) – Four Turkish police officers were wounded Saturday when their armored vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED), a military source said.

The attack in the Vakifkent neighborhood of Sirnak province is believed to have been carried out by PKK group, Anadolu Agency reported.

The injured officers were taken to Sirnak State Hospital, the unnamed source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Southeast Turkey has been the center of renewed fighting between the PKK — considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU — and security forces since last July. More than 260 police and troops have been martyred in the latest round of violence in a 32-year conflict. (T/P010/R04)
