Brussels, 20 Rabi’ul Akhir 1438/19 January 2017 (MINA) – The Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) has started a campaign to organize an international conference against the Israeli settlements at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The PLO Expatriates Affairs Department has invited a number of European parties, human rights and parliamentary organisations to participate in the anti-settlement campaign following the UN Security Council’s resolution No. 2334, which rejected Israel’s settlement policy and called for its end, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported.

A joint Palestinian delegation from the Expatriates Affairs and the National Office for the Defense of Land recently visited Germany and Denmark to prepare for the Palestinian-European anti-settlement conference.

The head of the department, Ali Abu Hilal, said in an interview with Quds Press that the campaign plans to benefit from the UN Security Council’s latest resolution and pressure Israel to end its settlement activities on Palestinian land.

Abu Hilal revealed that a decision was taken to hold the conference in Brussels next March to create a large international coalition.

The conference aims to formulate an international plan against Israeli settlement activities and convince European governments to act against it”, he said.(T/R04/RS05)
