EGYPT-WIDE ANTI-SISI DEMONSTRATIONS
Cairo, 14 Dhulqa’dah 1435/9 September 2014 (MINA) – Opponents of the Egyptian government held protests around the country demanding the authorities step down after they failed to solve the crises in the country.
The marches, demonstrations and human chains were held in response to a call by Dhank Youth movement which was founded last month to denounce what it calls the failure of the authorities in resolving crises, accoding to Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reports as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).
The call was supported by pro-ousted President Mohamed Morsi group “National Alliance to support the legitimacy and reject the coup”, to complete a week of protests entitled “revolution until victory”.
According to witnesses and the Anadolu correspondents, rising prices and power cuts lead the groups to demand current President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi step down allowing for Morsi’s return.
In Cairo, Morsi’s supporters came out to reject the current system, demanding the government step down and denouncing its failure to solve the electricity crisis.
This was repeated in the Giza Governorate where participants chanted “Down with military rule”.
Women Against the Coup also took part in the protests in the village of Mansuriya, where they wore Rabaa and Morsi flags and banners condemning the regime’s policies.
In Alexandria people came out to condemn the rise in prices and the continuing power crisis.
In the Nile Delta, Morsi’s the birthplace, protesters walked through the streets of the cities chanting slogans against the army and police, and the current President Al-Sisi, such as “we’re continuing and we’re not scared” and “Leave Sisi.. Morsi’s my president”.
The protesters also demanded the release of detainees and condemned the repression practiced by security forces and the police, and chanted slogans demanding the regime be toppled.(T/R04/R03)
