At Least 30 Brides and Grooms Join Ramadan Blessing Marriage
Yogyakarta, 9 Ramadhan 1438/4 June 2017 (MINA) – A total of 30 couples of bride and groom participated in the mass marriage ceremony of Ramadhan Blessing at the mosque yard of the Islamic Center of the Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta on Sunday (4/6).
The mass marriage on 13 pairs of bride and groom who perform wedding ceremony was witnessed by 17 pairs of blind disabled married couples who participated in the thank givings ritual.
Before starting the marriage procession the 30 pairs sang the national anthem of Indonesia Raya and read the text of the national ideology Pancasila. The process was led by Head of the Office of Religious Affairs, Banguntapan District, Bantul, Ari Iswanto.
The couples previously also performed the procession to the Islamic Center UAD Mosque. Kirab begins with the UAD Student Regiment, TNI, and Police from Banguntapan District.
Marriage is full of blessings because people still consider taboo if married in the month of Ramadan.
The mass marriage of 13 pairs and thanksgiving rituals over 17 difabel bridal couples was held by Forum Taaruf Indonesia (Fortais) in collaboration with UAD, Islamic Center Masmir, DPD Harpi DIY, and a number of other parties.
The 13 newly married couples have different educational background, with the lowest graduated from elementary school and the highest has graduated S2. The youngest couple’s age is 22 years old and the oldest is 59 years old.
While 17 other couples are married bride. They are the disabled blind people who are married but have not implemented a bridal thank giving event.
Fortais Chairman, Ryan Budi Nuryanto, said that for nearly six years the organisation has arranged the marriage of around 6,500 bridal pairs. (L/RO4/RS5)
