Unprovoked cross border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan administered Kashmir killed two people and wounded six others.

 

Islamabad, 7 Ramadan 1438/ June 2017 (MINA) – At least two civilians were killed and six others sustained injuries when Indian troops resorted to unprovoked cross border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

According to Pakistan military’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), “Indian troops opened fire at Battal, Jandrot and Hotspring sectors at [the] LoC.” Pakistani troops were effectively engaging Indian positions after the incident, it added.

A senior police official in Kashmir, SP Shahdab told KUNA that two men were killed and six others, including four women, were injured in the cross-border firing by India.

The casualties took place in different villages of the Battal sector in the southern Poonch district.

Two men, one in his late thirties and the other in mid-sixties, were killed after shells landed on their houses, said the official.

The victims were shifted to the nearest public hospital in Rawalakot city where the wounded are said to be in stable condition.

Earlier last week, a woman was killed in a similar ceasefire violation by Indian troops in Bhimber district along LoC. (T/RS5/RS1)
