Caracas, 27 Jumadil Awwal 1438/24 February 2017 (MINA) – Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez said Thursday that Venezuela, as temporary president of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), called for a meeting of foreign ministers to support the Palestinian people.

‘The objective is that the 120 country members of NAM take joint and concrete actions to raise our voice for the Palestinian cause,’ Prensa Latina quoted Rodriguez aas saying in a meeting with her Palestinian counterpart Riad Al Malki held at the Foreign Ministry in Caracas.

‘This is one of the most sensitive causes in the international community,’ she said, while reiterating the solidarity of the Bolivarian Government, President Nicolas Maduro and the population, with the Palestinian State and its population.

Palestine has the majority support of the international community, expressed through the 90 resolutions passed by the United Nations in favor of the Palestinian cause.

‘In various domestic and international forums, Venezuela has reiterated its solidarity with the cause of Palestine and its people, which have been subjected to the expansionist policies of the Israeli Government for more than 50 years,’ she said.

As a result of the Israeli attacks, at least two million Palestinians have been forced to live in exile and Palestine was left with only 12 percent of its historic territory, which now covers the Gaza Strip and the West Bank area. (T/RS05/RS01)
