SOUTH AFRICAN MEDICAL TEAM ARRIVES IN GAZA

Gaza, 6 Dzulqa’dah 1435/1 September 2014 (MINA) – A South African medical team arrived in Gaza on Sunday (31/8) to assist in the treatment of thousands of Palestinians injured in Israel’s 51-day assault on the Strip.

“The team consisted of 10 doctors with various specializations,” said the director of the Gift of the Givers Foundation In a news conference at al-Shifa hospital.

The team will spend two weeks in Gaza, Dr. Imtiaz Suleiman said. Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

He added that the World Health Organization had sent medical supplies which were currently en route to the Strip via Egypt.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza issued a report stating that Israeli missiles and shells, fired against the Palestinian population of Gaza since July 8, led to the death of 2145 Palestinians, including 578 children, 263 women, and 102 elderly.

It said around 11100, including 3374 children, 2088 women and 410 elderly, have been injured.(T/P008/P3)
