LIBYA’S MUFTI CALLS FOR MUSLIMS TO SUPPORT GAZA
Tripoli, 22 Ramadhan 1435/20 July 2014 (MINA) – Libya’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani has called for Muslims all over the world to obey the call issued by their religious scholars to support the Gaza Strip, which has been under massive Israeli was for 13 days.
In an article he published on his official website, Al-Ghariani said: “It is obligatory for all Muslims in this holy month [Ramadan] to obey the call issued by their religious scholars to support Gaza with money and prayers and other forms of support.”
International Union for Muslim Scholars has called upon all Muslims all over the world to act in favour of the war-stricken Gaza Strip. It called for Friday to be a day for solidarity with the people of Gaza, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Al-Ghariani called for Muslims to stand beside the people of Gaza during their “continuous ordeal and strict siege” and to support it for being under Zionist “destructive killing machine.”
He said that Gazans are suffering these crises while Arab governments are supporting the occupation and supplying it with gas and fuel, or with corporeal support such as recognition or normalising ties.
“For sure, the Israeli enemy uses the Arabic fuel to run its military machine, which attacks the houses of the Gaza residents and kills whole families,” the Mufti said.
The Mufti wondered: “Where is nobility and loyalty of the Muslim leaders who give up supporting the people of their religion.”
Israel started a massive war on Gaza in July 7. It killed 316 Palestinians and wounded more than 2,250. From this number, there are 72 children, 28 women and 18 elderly.
According to initial statistics of housing and public work ministry, Israel completely destroyed 694 houses and partially destroyed 14,500.
UNOCHA said on Thursday that more than 96,000 Palestinians in Gaza are in need for shelters after they were displaced as Israeli destroyed their houses.(T/P02/E01)
