Occupied Jerusalem, 26 Rabiul Akhir 1435 / 26 February 2014 (MINA) – A retaining wall in Wadi Hilwa neighborhood, collapsed on early Wednesday morning due to the ongoing Israeli occupation excavations  under the Palestinian houses in Silwan town, southern al-Aqsa mosque.

Residents of the neighborhood woke up on the noise of a whooping collapse. They were shocked by the destruction of the retaining wall of 15 meters width and a height of 3meters.

Nadim Badr, who affected by the collapse, said that  at 3:00 am  he heard a strange sound similar to the sounds of earthquakes, then he saw the collapse of the wall that separates his house from nearby houses.

He pointed out, “ I quickly woke up my wife and children and took them out their bedrooms to avoid dire consequence of the collapse, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting Wednesday.

The collapse resulted in the destruction of some houses belong to al-Salyma, Badr, al-Taweel and al-Ja’bari families.

In the same context, the families confirmed that they frequently hear the noises of excavations process under their houses at night and dawn hours.

The concrete retaining wall went back to more than 20 years. (T/E01/IR)
