Japan Funds Construction of Classrooms in Nablus

Ramallah, MINA – Japan’s Representative Office to Palestine today announced in a press release that it signed a grant contract to fund the construction of classrooms in the Nablus-district village of Awarta.

According to WAFA, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine Masayuki Magoshi and Awarta Village Council signed a grant contract for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) at the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The Representative Office of Japan to Palestine said that a grant of USD 89,212 is extended to Awarta Village Council to construct three classrooms in Awarta School.

“This project will increase both quality and capacity of the educational environment for 76 students who currently study in a caravan and two crowded classrooms, thereby enabling all 434 students to enjoy a better learning environment,” the statement read.

“Magoshi congratulated Awarta Village Council, and wished them success in their project. He emphasized Japan’s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.”

The statement concluded that since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance amounting to approximately USD1.9 billion to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.(T/R04/P2)
