Al Quds, 20 Muharram 1437/2 November 2015 (MINA) –  A Palestinian was killed by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since Oct. 1 to 72.

Israeli army spokesman Peter Lerner said that 18-year-old Mahmoud Nazzal had been shot dead after attempting to stab an Israeli soldier at the Gilboa crossing near the city of Afula in northern Israel, Anadolu Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

According to eyewitnesses, Israeli troops shot Nazzal six times before leaving him to bleed to death.

The assistant secretary general of the Arab League said the Palestinians have started the third intifada. This, claimed Abdul Latif Obaid, is proof that they are persisting in their efforts to obtain their rights.

Speaking to Quds Press, Obaid said that the international community is again paying attention to the Palestinian issue and has “recognised that this must be dealt with.”

He noted that the Arab League is doing its best to “support the Palestinians, defend them and find a just solution for their cause.” They are, he insisted, the only nation still being deprived of their rights and freedom, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported.

Calling for the international community to take stronger action to put pressure on Israel to obey international laws and resolutions, he pointed out that, at the moment, such responses are “far below the level needed.”

Although some of the Arab countries are still suffering from external interventions, concluded Obaid, “the populations are doing their best to support the Palestinian people.(T/P010/R03)
