65 GAZA FAMILIES VISIT THEIR SONS IN RIMON PRISON
Gaza, 4 Muharram 1436 H/28 September 2014 M (MINA) – 65 Gaza residents left the coastal enclave on Monday morning via Beit Hanoun crossing, Eretz, to visit their relatives in the Israeli jails.
International Committee for the Red Cross(ICRC) spokesperson Mosada Seif said, 65 Gazans including 11 children under the age of 10 will visit 40 of their detained relatives in Rimon Prison.
She pointed out that the families’ visits, which were resumed last week, going in a normal pace and there are no obstacles, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Tuesday.
Israeli occupation authorities banned Gaza prisoners’ families from visiting their sons for four months, since the abduction of three Israeli settlers in Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank last June.
The Israeli occupation imposes restrictions on the detainees’ families including banning the entry of food and books to prisoners.
The Israeli Prison Services (IPS) put barriers between the prisoners and their relatives during the visit to prevent them from contacting directly.
About 5000 Palestinian prisoners are held behind the Israeli bars, according to the Ministry of Detainees and Ex-detainees, including 420 from the Gaza Strip.
It is noteworthy that family visits stopped and then resumed after the prisoners had launched an open-ended hunger strike lasted for 28 days in 2012 which led to the signing of al-Karama Agreement between prisoners and the IPS under the Egyptian auspices. (T/P002/P3)
