1st HWPL Media Forum in Indonesia: ‘the Role of Media in Peace Building’
Jakarta, 19 Jumadil Awwal 1437/27 February 2016 (MINA) – The Heavenly Culture World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) of Indonesian Chapter held a media forum at the Santika Premier Hotel here on February 24 to highlight the role of media in facilitating comprehensive grassroots peace building that involves diverse voices of the community.
The media forum, under the topic of the Role of Media in Peace Building, opened with a video presentation about HWPL and then a speech on ‘The Role of Media in Peace Building and’ Signing Agreement to Propose The Enactment of International Law for the Cessation of Wars and World Peace.
The first guest speaker, Tuty purwaningsih (TVRI, manager of international broadcast) is an HWPL publicity ambassador. She convyed the impression of 1st annual commemoration of the World Alliance Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit and then asked all participants to support HWPL’s peace activity.
Furqon Bunyamin Husein (Radar Indonesia News, General Leader) who is an HWPL publicity ambassador said “I fully support the works of HWPL including HWPL WARP Office and the Enactment of International Law. I appreciate HWPL for reminding us the role of media that we shouldn’t just deliver the news, but spread peace to the world.”
Abdul Razak Asri, Chief Editor of Hukum online said that “Media needs to do some work to build a system that can spread HWPL’s activities.”
Rana Setiawan, Editor and Chief Reporter of Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) said that MINA fully supports HWPL’s peace movement and realize that HWPL’s vision and mission are the same with MINA. That’s why MINA agreed on HWPL and hope to invite all HWPL’s event as a media.
HWPL devotes to enact an International Law for the Cessation of Wars and World Peace and urges the world to introduce the law to UN. As they reveal that 80% of conflicts are religious conflicts, they have held WARP Dialogues at 120 HWPL WARP Offices in 61 countries to promote harmony between religions.
Man Hee Lee, the chairman of HWPL, said “former and current presidents and chief justices promised to enact the international law, and religious leaders promised to become one within God at WARP Summit. Media also promised to urge the enactment of the international law and the promise between religious leaders and spread the news of peace. The role of journalists who love peace should keep spreading the news.”
