BDS Malaysia: Government Playing Important Role In Boycotting Israeli Products

Shah Alam, Malaysia, MINA – The Malaysia’s Chairman of Boycott’s Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign, Mohd Nazari Ismail, has said that governments in countries that have no diplomatic relations with Israel have a crucial role in the boycot against Israeli products.

The statement was delivered while conveying his views in the Conference on the Defense & Liberation of Al-Aqsa and Palestine in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, on Tuesday (10/10).

He said the government with its policies should be able to invite people not to buy Israeli products, because if the government does not care about BDS campaign, it will be in vain.

“Currently the challenge is being faced by Malaysia, there are still government associations that have a negative view of this BDS,” he said.

Nazari said, although there are countries that have no diplomatic relations with Israel, but still many of their products such as in the field of industry still continues to enter the country.

“Therefore, the government must play its role in launching this BDS by not issuing permits to Israeli companies or affiliates,” he said.

The Conference on the Defense & Liberation of Al-Aqsa and Palestine is organized by the Asian Muslim Scholars (AMS) in cooperation with the

Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organization (MAPIM), Secretariat For Ulama ‘Assembly of Asia (SHURA), the Global People Welfare Organization of Malaysia (UNDER) on October 9-10.

The conference discussed several topics, including discussing support, resistance and emphasizing the importance of jihad to fight for Palestinian territorial independence from the Zionist occupation.

The speakers at the conference included Imaam Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) Yakhsyallah Mansur, Chairman of MAPIM Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, Chairman of SHURA Sheikh Abdul Ghani Samsuddin, and Al Quds Foundation Malaysia Syarif Amin Abushammala.

The conference participants consisted of representatives from various countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt and Cambodia.

From Indonesia, the delegates who attended the conference included Aqsa Working Group (AWG), Syubban (Youth) Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah), Hezbollah Communication Forum, and International Muslim Brotherhood. (L/RE1/RS5)
