Al-Quds (Occupied Jerusalem), 14 Jumadal Awwal 1436/5 March 2015 (MINA) –  Undercover Israeli officers arrested a Palestinian teenager Tuesday evening during clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinian youth in Silwan.

Witnesses told Ma’an that the clashes first broke in the al-Abbasiyya quarter of the Old City in Jerusalem, spreading to Ein al-Luzah, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

During the clashes, a group of undercover Israeli officers attacked a teenage boy and took him into custody “after beating him violently,” they said, after Israeli troops fired stun grenades and rubber-coated balls haphazardly in the alleys between residential houses.

An Israeli police spokesperson did not immediately return the phone call for comment.

Undercover police forces dressed as Palestinians are often used by Israel to infiltrate Palestinian neighborhoods, for the purpose of arrest, killing, or collecting information.

Israeli forces regularly arrest minors in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, usually on the pretext of stone-throwing. (T/P010/P3)
