TETO Chief John Chen: Taiwan Number 1 in World’s Macro-Economic Stability
Jakarta, MINA – The Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) held its 108th National Day Celebration. On that occasion, TETO Chief John Chen in his speech stated, Taiwan is ranked Taiwan as the world’s No 1 in terms of macro-economic stability.
Not only that, John Chen mentioned the achievements of his country by referring to data released by the “World Competitiveness Report 2018” from the Swiss World Economic Forum (WEF). The agency said Taiwan has ranked as one of the top four super innovators along with Germany, the United States, and Switzerland.
Other achievements are in terms of economy, Taiwan is ranked 13th in the world, and 4th in the Asia-Pacific region.
While in terms of cooperation with Indonesia, there are currently around 300,000 Indonesians who work, study and live in Taiwan. Among them, there are around 260,000 Indonesian migrant workers. Taiwan’s salary, health insurance, and welfare for Indonesian migrant workers are the best among other foreign migrant workers.
In terms of social assistance, John Chen said, during the tsunami earthquake on Lombok, Palu and other provinces last year, the contribution of Taiwan’s government as a whole had exceeded 2.86 million US dollars. Some of the funds are used to rebuild schools, centers for Islamic activities, donation embankments, ambulance cars, clothing, and other food in the affected areas.
The 108th Anniversary of the Republic of China (Taiwan) was held in Jakarta on the night of October 8, 2019. Some of the Indonesian figures attended the ceremony, included government officials, members of parliament, diplomats, Taiwanese businessmen, scholars, artists and cultural figures of around 800 people from all walks of life.
