Taiwan Culture Arts Festival Wows Residents in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – Performing arts and culture for the celebration of the 2019 Lunar New Year Goodwill Mission Festival held in Jakarta, Tuesday night that amazed thousands of Chinese diaspora residents who witnessed it.

The event to enliven the Chinese New Year and meet this spring festival was held by the Taiwan Economic and Trade Office (TETO) with the Taiwan Employers’ Association in Jakarta and the Taiwan Indonesia (ICATI) Alumni Association Image Jakarta.

Taiwan Deputy Minister for Community Diaspores Affairs (OAC) Committee Kao Chien-Chih lead a group of Spring Festival Arts and Culture Delegates selected to appear this year, the Taiwan Acrobatic Group from the Taiwan National Performing Arts College .

He hoped that the performances at the Taiwan Spring Festival could enhance the exchange of art and culture between countries through acrobatic performances combined with various dances, arts, dramas, and various other forms of performances that were rich in Taiwan’s multiculturalism.

“This show is Chinese culture, including local cultures and the culture of wisdom from minority tribes from Taiwan that showed the acculturation of Chinese ethnic culture,” said Kao.

A variety of traditional Taiwanese acrobatic dances were shown in the presence of Taiwanese diaspora and members of the Taiwanese community organizations and the local community.

TETO’s Head, John Chen hoped that this performance can establish closer cooperation with Indonesia which is very rich in arts and culture.

“Through this spectacular show, we hope to deepen understanding and establishing a sense of friendship between Chinese Diaspora citizens in Indonesia and Taiwanese, together with an energetic spirit and the warmth of a cheerful, full-fledged Taiwanese society,” he said.

The group of Arts and Culture Delegations for the Spring Festival led by Kao toured the show in 13 cities in eight countries in Asia and Oceania, 12 February – 12 March 2019.

Currently, the delegation of the Art and Culture Delegation for the Taiwan Spring Festival has performed smoothly and received very high appreciation in six countries, namely Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

The group will perform for three events in Indonesia. In addition to Jakarta, they have finished their performances in Medan on March 3, 2019, and will perform in the city of Bandung on March 7. (TL/Sj/P2)
