Stamp Issuance Marks 70th Anniversary of RI-USA Bilateral Relationship
Jakarta, MINA – Publishing stamp and launching #IndonesiaUSA 70th Youth Ambassadors program marks the celebration of 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and the United States of America (USA).
“I am optimistic that the relations between the two countries will continue to grow and develop in a constructive and mutually beneficial direction,” said Indonesian Foreign Minister Abdurrahman M. Fachir, when inaugurating the 70th anniversary of RI-US diplomatic relations and #IndonesiaUSA 70th Youth Ambassadors program in Diplomacy Canteen Hall of Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affair, Jakarta, Wednesday.
The commemorative stamp of 70th RI-US diplomatic relationship shows images of leatherback turtle species is laying eggs in eastern Indonesia and living in waters of the US West Coast.
This species is a reflection of partnership across the ocean, both countries hope to continue collaborating for welfare of society and the world.
The stamps are planned to be printed into 1,000 pieces, and one of them is placed in Indonesian Stamp Museum.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Indonesia, Joseph R. Donovan, admitted that greatly appreciated the issuance of stamps and hoped to continue strengthening relations between Indonesia and the US.
“Our partnership is built based on the common values of democracy and shared interests, including education, sharing expertise, and innovating to create a brighter future,” said Donovan. “The #IndonesiaUSA 70th Youth Ambassadors program is one example,” he added.
#IndonesiaUSA 70th Youth Ambassadors is a collaboration from Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and US Ministry of Foreign Affairs which includes 10 Indonesian youths aged 18-25 years from various cultural backgrounds to learn more about Indonesia and US bilateral relations. They will be in the US for a three-week visit, establishing relationships and mingling with US young men.
The program will provide an opportunity to promote pluralism and democracy, and prepare them to become future leaders who will strengthen relations between Indonesia and the US.
RI-US diplomatic relations were officially opened on December 28, 1949 and now at the stage of Strategic Partnership. An important step for Indonesia and the US to jointly share responsibility of finding solutions to global challenges, while strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
To enliven the 70th anniversary of RI-US bilateral relations, the number of activities in Indonesia and the US have been planned, one of them will be carried out by Indonesian representatives in the US and US representatives in Indonesia. (L/Sj/R04)
