Israel’s New Settlement Law Will End Peace Efforts – PLO

Ramallah,10 Jumadil Awwal 1438/07 February 2017 (MINA) – The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said that Israel’s new controversial settlement legalization law will end all possibilities to establish an independent Palestinian state.

The new law allows settlements expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which in total violation of international laws regarding occupied Palestinian lands, KUNA quoted member of the organization’s executive committee Hanan Al-Ashrawi as saying in a statement on Tuesday.

She called on the international community to take serious action against such law and implement the articles on the UN Security Council regarding this matter.

On Monday, the Israeli parliament approved the settlement law that will put parts of the West Bank under Israeli control.

Israel seized the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East war.

The 50th anniversary of the occupation, which Israel marks as a reunification of Jerusalem, is in June. (T/RS05/RS01)
