Geneva, 18 Jumadil Akhir 1437/28 March 2016 (MINA) – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has condemned the continuing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, including the occupation of territories and building of settlements.

In a speech before the United Nations Human Rights Council, Faisal Trad, the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in Geneva, said Israel was accustomed to expel Palestinian population out of their homes to build illegal settlements in a flagrant violation of the Palestinian peoples’ rights and contradictory practice to paragraph 6 of article 49 of Geneva Fourth Convention.

The Saudi envoy referred to the International Justice Tribunal’s repeated resolutions, illegitimating the building of settlements as the territories were usurped by Israel since 1967,  Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted WAM as reporting.

He added that Saudi Arabia confirms that just and comprehensive peace is a strategic option, the peace process is a comprehensive and integral one that could not be divided and peace could not be achieved without the Israeli withdrawal from all the Palestinian and Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan Heights until the 1967 parallel, and Palestinian independent state be established with Al-Quds as its capital.

Trad demanded the world community to shoulder its responsibility and coerce Israel to respect the principles of peace process and not to violate the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. (T/R07/R01)
