Palestinian Prisoner Dies Behind Iron Bars

Rmallah, 24 Dzulhijah 1437/6 September 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouni 40, passed away due to a brain stroke early on Sunday, said head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club Qadura Fares in remarks to KUNA.

Fares accused Israeli prison authorities of intentional negligence of Hamdouni’s medical condition, saying he was holding them responsible for the inmate’s demise.

Hamdouni, who hails from the village of Yobod near Jenin, had suffered from various illnesses since his detention in 2003.

Fares added that the Palestinian prisoners started a three-day hunger strike following Hamdounah’s demise.

The Palestinian government condemned the sudden death of Hamdouni, saying his death was a result of Israel’s medical negligence towards Palestinian detainees and prisoners. (T/R07/R01)
