Palestinian Official Critisizes Trump’s Statements over Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

Ramallah,25 September 1437/27 September 2016 (MINA) – Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat has slammed US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over Jerusalem as always being capital of Israel.

In a press statement, Erekat described Trump’s remarks about Jerusalem as deviation from international law and the foreign policies of successive US administrations.

He said Trump showed unrespect for millions of American citizens’ calls for peace between Israel and Palestine based on liberty, justice and equality.

He noted that these remarks destroy the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967.

The presidential nominee made his remarks while meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Trump Tower in New York. (T/R07/R01)
