Palestinian : Netanyahu Misleading International Community

Ramallah, 15 Syawal 1437/20 July 2016 (MINA) – During its weekly meeting, the Palestinian Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, issued a statement reiterating that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to misinform and deceive the international community, WAFA reported on Wednesday.

A number of Israeli cabinet members – including Netanyahu –have been leading an incitement campaign, calling for revenge and imposing collective punishment on the Palestinian people. Such incitement translates into attacks and crimes by Israeli settlers and soldiers against innocent civilians, the statement read.

The Cabinet also stressed that Netanyahu is doing everything in his power to thwart all international efforts aimed at reviving the peace process, especially by rejecting the French Peace initiative.

According to the statement, Netanyahu’s actions reveal his determination to prevent the Palestinians from having an independent state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Cabinet harshly criticized the continued expansion of Israeli settlements, most recently the approval of 90 units in the illegal settlement of Gilo, southwest of Jerusalem. It also condemned the introduction of a bill in the Israeli Knesset which would lead to Israel annexing the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim.

The bill was introduced by the Land of Israel Lobby, headed by MKs Yoav Kish (Likud) and Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home), the bill stated that “the laws and administrative principles of the State of Israel will be applied in the territory of Ma’ale Adumim.” (T/R07/R01)
