Palestinian Factions: PCC Should Make Four National Decisions
Gaza, MINA – Palestinian factions on Sunday called on the Palestinian Central Council (PCC) to issue four crucial decisions including declaring the end of the Oslo Agreement, ending security coordination, revoking the recognition of Israel, and lifting restrictions on the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank.
According to Palestinian Information Center, the factions said in a press conference in Gaza city that the PCC should have been convened earlier to respond to the US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Jihad leader Ahmad al-Modallal said that the PCC meeting was supposed to be preceded by a meeting for the Provisional Leadership Framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization to prepare the issues to be discussed and develop strategies to confront Trump’s decision.
Modallal stressed, in a speech he delivered on behalf of the Palestinian factions who refused to attend the PCC meeting, that the PCC should have been convened abroad so that all Palestinian factions could participate, and called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to abide by the recent reconciliation agreements and lift the sanctions imposed on Gaza.
He asked the PA to no longer bet on the peace process and establish a unified national strategy based on adopting the option of resistance in all its forms against the Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian factions condemned the biased statements by UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov, in which he described the Palestinian resistance as “terrorism”.
The PCC launched its 28th session in Ramallah on Sunday with the participation of 110 members. Many Palestinian factions, including Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, boycotted the meeting.(R/R04/RE1)
