New Flotilla Sets Sail From Gaza in Protest at Israeli Siege
Gaza Siege, MINA – Freedom Flotilla 3 on Sunday afternoon set off from Gaza port in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
National Movement to Break the Siege said in a press conference, before the ship left Gaza port, “The time has come to lift the siege on Gaza.”
The movement asked Israel to immediately release the captains of the two Freedom vessels that were intercepted by the Israeli navy while trying to break Gaza blockade during the past two months, PIC reported.
Spokesman for the National Movement, Adham Abu Salmiya, said, “We will continue our peaceful struggle until the blockade is lifted and the oppression is ended because Gaza deserves to live.”
Abu Salmiya condemned Israel’s latest attack on an international ship coming from Europe to Gaza in a bid to break the siege.
The Israeli navy had previously intercepted and attacked two anti-siege ships launched from Gaza. All those on board were detained and released later except the captains of the two ships. (R/R04/RS5)
