Ministry: 35 Gazans Killed, 4,279 Injured Since Start of Return March

Gaza, MINA – A recent report by Gaza’s Ministry of Health has revealed that 35 Palestinians have been killed since the launch of the Great March of Return including three children, while 4,279 injured including 642 children and 243 women.

The Israeli occupation forces are detaining the bodies of two Palestinian youths who were shot dead near the border fence, the report added.

According to PiC, as for the injuries, 1,539 Palestinians were targeted by live ammunition, 388 were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets, 1,878 suffered teargas inhalation, and 478 sustained other injuries.

The Ministry described 134 of the injuries that were treated in hospitals as serious, 1,183 moderate, and 2,962 minor. According to the Ministry’s statistics, 196 of the injured were shot in the neck and head, 384 in the upper limbs, 96 in the back and chest, 116 in the abdomen and pelvis, 1,496 in the lower limbs and 113 in other places.

The Ministry added that four upper limbs and 13 lower limps were amputated during treatment. The report said that 44 paramedics and civil defense men were injured during the protests while 19 ambulances and civil defense vehicles were partially damaged after being deliberately targeted by Israeli gunfire.

A Palestinian journalist named Yaser Murtaja was killed while 66 others were injured as a result of inhaling teargas or being targeted with live ammunition while covering the protests. (t/r04/rs5)
